Sheraton Wine Dozen: Scotts Brook Shiraz 2007
Another very good shiraz from Scotts Brook. This one is just ahead of the previous vintage, reflecting a better year. It's finely balanced and delivers its medium-bodied palate with effortless ease. Lovely red berry and spicy fruit characters on the nose and palate with a long focused finish. Thoroughly delicious. The Blackwood region produces some excellent-quality red wine and these guys have been turning out some very good wines in recent years.
About Scotts Brook: A small producer doing things right. The owners' philosophy is to maximise the advantages of their unique terroir to produce intensely flavoured fruit from their low-yielding vines. Fruit is picked on flavour with maximum seed and tannin ripeness. Aiming for elegant, intensely flavoured coool climate varietals with structure and balance. Cabernet sauvignon and shiraz are the strong suits from Scotts Brook.

Scotts Brook Blackwood Valley Shiraz 2007
This is a lovely example of the soft, generous fruit you get from the Blackwood Valley. It has a lifted spiciness with touches of aniseed and a lingering savouriness. Soft palate with fine tannins and liberal vanillin oak. Nicely made wine.

Scotts Brook Blackwood Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
This is a classy expression of cool climate cabernet from the Blackwood Valley. It was a good vintage down there and the rich yet elegant, and silky character of the fruit is evidence of this. Red berry and light leafy overtones with the oak neatly subordinated.

Scotts Brook Chardonnay 2004
The colour is pale straw and the nose has hints of peach and melon. The palate is complex, showing the benefit of fermentation in new French oak. Flavours of peach, melon, and lime dominate, with an exquisite soft mouthfeel. Superb with chicken, veal or pasta dishes.
